Honors, Commitments, and USA

Fey Selected to Men's Junior National Team

Rising sophomore outside hitter Kupono Fey (Honolulu, HI) was recently selected to the U.S. Men's Junior National Team. They will be coached by Bill Ferguson who is the head coach at USC. Fey is one of 21 members chosen and one of ten players who played one collegiate season. The team will be cut down to 12 players and participate in the NORCECA Under-21 Continental Championships in El Salvador from July 28-August 3. Other Hawaii local product on the team is upcoming Stanford freshman libero Evan Enriques (Pahala, HI).

From posters on the Men's Board on VolleyTalk, Saige Gonsalves (Chandler, AZ) will walk on to the University of Hawaii. Gonsalves is a 5'10" libero from Hamilton HS and plays for Sprial Volleyball Club. Recently, Spiral Volleyball Club finished 1st in the 18 Open Division of the Boys Junior National Championships. He was the starting libero for his club team and high school.

Volleyball Magazine has announced their 2014 Boys High School All-American list and incoming freshmen Luke Owens (Kailua, HI) and Kekoa Pukahi (Carlsbad, CA) were named Honorable Mention. Former UH decommit Larry "Tui" Tuileta (Honolulu, HI) was named Player of the Year and Evan Enriques (Pahala, HI) was named First Team.

The Rainbow Wahine recruiting class was named Honorable Mention by Volleyball Magazine. Hawaii's recruiting class consists of seven freshmen and one transfer. The Top 10 teams all came from the Pac-12, Big Ten, or SEC. The only other Big West team named was Long Beach State who was also listed under Honorable Mention.
