AVCA Release | Hawaii Release | Big West Release
As the list of AVCA All-Region Teams were announced today, two University of Hawaii players were listed. Senior middle blocker Olivia Magill and junior opposite Nikki Taylor were both named to the AVCA All-Pacific North Region Team. This is the second time Magill has been named to the Region Team while Taylor last received Honorable Mention in 2013.
Other schools who received honors on the same Region Team or Honorable Mention as well were Stanford (4), Washington (3), Santa Clara (3), Colorado State (2), Boise State (2), Sacramento State (1), Cal (1), Gonzaga (1), and Northern Arizona (1). Long Beach State was the only other Big West team to receive honors and that was to senior setter Jenelle Hudson who was named to the All-Pacific South Region Team.
Now that they have been named to the Region Team, they are now eligible to be voted as AVCA All-Americans. The AVCA will announce those awards on December 16th and the awards dinner will be in Omaha, Nebraska on December 18th.
The Rainbow Wahine fly today to Des Moines, Iowa where they will get acclimated to the colder conditions. They will practice for sure on Thursday (could possibly be an open practice) as they get ready for their Regional Semifinal match against Penn State on Friday.
Congratulations to #HawaiiWVB's Olivia Magill and Nikki Taylor for earning @AVCAVolleyball all-Pacific-North Region honors! #GoBows 🌈🏐
